Walkthrough and Overview
Configured with Airtable, Airtable Trigger, HTTP Request, Slack. Review the connections and setup before adapting this template.
Node categories in this workflow
- Data store
- Web / API
- Code
- Messaging
- Trigger
- Transform
Icons describe general node roles, inferred from node types. Inspect the parameters for the configured action.
Drag to pan; use + and − to zoom. Reconstructed from the exported node positions; nothing runs here. Dashed lines represent non-main connections. Full node names and notes appear below.
How it works
The exported workflow contains the following configured nodes. Their connections are shown above; inspect the JSON for the complete logic, expressions, and external actions.
| Node | Category | Type | Operation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Get Automated Task | Data store | Airtable | get |
| Create Task | Web / API | HTTP Request | POST |
| Get Task Template | Data store | Airtable | get |
| Get Assignee | Data store | Airtable | get |
| Get Client | Data store | Airtable | get |
| Calculate Dates | Code | Code | See node parameters |
| Update Automated Record | Web / API | HTTP Request | PATCH |
| Notify Assignee | Messaging | Slack | See node parameters |
| Entered View "First Task - Create Task" | Trigger | Airtable Trigger | See node parameters |
| Airtable Base ID's | Transform | Edit Fields | See node parameters |
Setup
- Download the JSON and import it into an isolated n8n instance. Leave the workflow inactive.
- Connect your own credentials through n8n’s credential store. Replace
REPLACE_WITH_*values with your resource identifiers. - Inspect API destinations, Code nodes, database queries, file paths, and outbound actions.
- Run with synthetic data and harmless destinations. Enable triggers only after checking the actual outputs.
Requirements
An n8n instance with the listed node types and compatible versions. Service-connected workflows may require accounts, credentials, or paid APIs.
Credential types declared in the source
None declared. HTTP requests and Code nodes may still need configuration.

Setup Checklist
Setup Checklist
- Go to the Airtable Template and copy the latest version of the base
- Go to the
Automatetable and open the viewFirst Task - Create Task. From here, copy the BaseId, TableId and ViewId into the trigger. Make that the field "updated_at" is visible in the "First Task - Create Task" View - Input your Airtable Id's in the second node "Airtable Base ID's"
The setup is now complete, now for testing:
- Go to the Airtable Interface Page called "Automate a Template ⚙️" and create an entry utilizing the dummy data.
- Important If you want to test the automation live, the Start Date should be set to TODAY. Please ensure your n8n automation is live.

Purpose and structure
This folder contains the Walkthrough and Overview workflow. Its executable nodes use airtable, airtableTrigger, code, httpRequest, set, slack. The table and connection map below are derived from the JSON, not an inferred guarantee of behavior.
Setup
Import inactive. Configure your own credentials and replace REPLACE_WITH_* values. Review external destinations and Code nodes before running.

- These nodes should be adapted to your custom Airtable Base. These nodes and the field names correspond to the template fields, but will not work if your tables field names, field type are different
